With Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker being one of the latest goalkeepers on the goal-scoring charts, we throw it back to the time when Oscarine Masuluke shocked the world with his emphatic overhead kick against Orland Pirates.
What's the story?
One of the rarest occurrences in football is that of goalkeepers scoring goals. While some might put their hands up in offering to have a crack during a penalty shootout, seeing a goalkeeper score during a match rarely happens.
Goalkeeper's delight
Take Alisson for one, the Brazilian star became the sixth goalkeeper to score in the English Premier League. In a crucial tie against West Brom last week, the two teams were tied at 1-1 until deep in stoppage time when Alisson was encouraged to join the opposition box for a corner.
In what was the last kick of the game, Alisson's glancing header proved to be the difference on the day, as Liverpool were left in a state of euphoria after his effort.
Dramatic scenes
That said, in 2016, goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke was the talk of world football when his dramatic overhead kick against Orlando Pirates saved Baroka a point on the night.
The shot-stopper earned himself a prestigious Puskas Nomination and while many on the night felt that his effort was the most spectacular, it was Olivier Giroud who walked away with the award for his scorpion kick effort against Crystal Palace that season.
