What's the story?

Following a 1-0 loss to a star-studded Belgium outfit on Sunday night, the reigning champions saw their tournament come to an end at the Round of 16.

In what was an end-to-end affair between the two sides, Thorgan Hazard's 42nd-minute screamer separated the European giants on the night.

Call It A Day?

While Ronaldo was often the difference for Portugal over the years, the 36-year-old was unable to inspire his team against the Red Devils. With that said, fans flocked to social media to react to the result with many feeling that CR7 should call it a day on the national stage, considering the success he had already brought to his country.

Nonetheless, as a silver lining, Ronaldo leaves the tournament tied with Ali Daei as the top scorers in international football (109).

Custom Shin Pads

That being said, Ronaldo wore a special pair of shin pads during the competition, as seen in one of his partner's Instagram posts.

In a snippet posted by Georgina Rodriquez to her Instagram stories setting a couple of days ago, CR7's shin pads sported a photo of the couple on it. While Ronaldo could well have used his shin pads as a Goodluck charm, it wasn't to be for the 2018 Euro champions.
