The story
Bafana Bafana midfielder Luke le Roux is set to join top Swedish club Hammarby, who finished as runners-up on the Allsvenskan league table.
The 24-year-old made the move to Scandinavia by joining Swedish side, Värnamo midway through 2024 and helped them avoid relegation in November, with local reports revealing that he caught the eye of several clubs in Europe.
Despite managing just one goal, Le Roux was one of Värnamo's main men last season after making 14 starts and four substitute appearances for the Swedish top flight struggles.
When available, he has typically been included in Hugo Broos' Bafana plans and was included in the recent squad for the Africa Cup of Nation qualifiers, playing a key role in the 2-0 away victory over Uganda in November.
With Bafana securing their spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals, Le Roux will hope to be on the flight to Morocco come the end of the year, with chances set to be boosted by joining one of Sweden's elite clubs and playing in UEFA Conference League.
Take a look at his best bits from what's likely to be his first and only season at Värnamo:
