Soccer Laduma had recently revealed how a Belgian club sent scouts to watch Mokwana. The sources have now added that Montpellier may be more serious than the Belgians at this point.
The Ligue 1 club had previously had a South African player on their books, former Kaizer Chiefs star Keagan Dolly.
"For now, Montpellier of France are in the forefront in as far as interest in Mokwana is concerned. They have already contacted the team in Tunisia as well as the player's representatives. They are happy with what they have been seeing in all his games whether it's for club or country and they are impressed. So, it will be between that team from Belgium and Montpellier," the Siya source close to the player stated.
A second insider discussed how interest from the French club may be more beneficial to both the player and his former side Sekhukhune United.

"If he goes to France he will be sold at a higher price which will then benefit Sekhukhune United who have a clause in his contract to Europe for a certain percentage to Sekhukhune United, and that means even him as a player will benefit more," said the second insider.
"And the league also is higher in (standard in) France than in Belgium which will grow his game and in turn help the national team, Bafana Bafana. So, with the inquiry from Montpellier, I don't think Esperance de Tunis would have problems selling Elias (Mokwana) as they will also benefit from the sale," the insider added.
Mokwana was a goalscorer in Bafana Bafana's away Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo, which ended in a 1-1 draw on Tuesday evening.
The increasing interest in Mokwana from European clubs, particularly Montpellier, highlights his growing reputation. A move to France, when compared to Belgium, could further enhance his development from Africa to one of the best leagues in the world.
