Update: Rulani's Pursuit Of Mudau

Mamelodi Sundowns' former coach Rulani Mokwena and his current club, Wydad Casablanca are interested in signing Bafana Bafana defender Khuliso Mudau, the Siya crew has been informed.

Despite facing a potential FIFA ban, Wydad Athletic continue to pursue key players to strengthen their squad, with Mudau being a top target. The club believes they will eventually resolve the problem with FIFA so that they can register new players in time for the new season.

Siya sources close to the club and player have indicated that Mokwena's admiration for Mudau is driving the interest.

"It's not a secret that coach Rulani (Mokwena) is an admirer and likes Khuliso (Mudau) too much and that's why he is talking to his current club to talk to Sundowns about Mudau joining him in Morocco," said the Siya source.

"Yes, there was interest in England and France for Mudau and nothing happened yet so this could be the chance for Wydad to get him but he won't come cheap or easy at all. Sundowns still want him at the club and they won't just left him go like that, and more so, to join coach Rulani," the Siya source added.

A second insider noted that the shared agent between Mokwena and Mudau could facilitate negotiations.

"They have one agent. And if the talks can go well then that means it could mean he can negotiate well for Mudau to Wydad because he has already sent coaches there. Coach Rulani and coach (Sinethemba) Badela," stated the second Siya source.

"But Sundowns value him highly and he won't come cheap. That could be the stumbling block as things stand at the moment. But Wydad have inquired about him. That's true," the second source added.

The outcome will depend on various factors, including the financial terms and the willingness of Sundowns to part with one of their most valued players.

Soccer Laduma contacted Sundowns for comment but no response was received by the time this report was published.
