SSU Could Lose Another Key Player To Downs

SuperSport United are tipped to lose another one of their star players to Mamelodi Sundowns, the Siya crew can reveal.

Masandawana are believed to be interested in signing left winger Patrick Maswanganyi.

The 25-year-old has been in good form for SuperSport this season, scoring four goals and providing four assists in the DStv Premiership so far. He is a quick and skilful player who can create chances for his teammates and is also good at scoring goals himself.

The Siya crew has been informed that Sundowns are looking to strengthen their left side of the attack, and Maswanganyi would be a good addition. He is a young and talented player who has the potential to be a star in the Premiership.

"The thing is their first choice is Thapelo Maseko but it seems he won't come easy or cheap so they are also interested in Patrick. Both players are very good. It will just depend on which one they get. Maseko prefers going to Europe while Maswangayi is from Europe already. He went there while still young and that experience has made him a better player. And you know Sundowns can spot talent at any time. But even him won't come cheap because he has a contract until June 2025 with SuperSport United," a Siya source revealed.

If Sundowns are able to sign the forward, it would be a major coup for the club. He would be a valuable addition to their squad and would help them to challenge for more trophies in the coming years.

Maswanganyi would not be the first player to move from SuperSport to Sundowns in recent years. Other players who have made the switch between the two clubs include Teboho Mokoena, Grant Kekana, Aubrey Modiba, Sipho Mbule, and Ronwen Williams in the recent transfer windows.

This trend of players moving from SuperSport to Sundowns has been a source of frustration for SuperSport fans, with talk in the fraternity that Sundowns are using their financial power to poach South Africa's best players. However, Downs have argued in the past that the club is simply signing the best players available, regardless of where they come from.

With the transfer window coming up, it remains to be seen whether Sundowns will make an approach for Maswanganyi, which could prove to be another blow for SuperSport.

Efforts to get a comment from Sundowns have not been successful.
