According to the Daily Mirror, Erik ten Hag wants Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos at Old Trafford next season.

The 21-year-old has reportedly been on United's radar for a while, and it now seems the record Premier League champions are prepared to pull the trigger on the Portugal international.

The Benfica academy graduate stepped into the first team this season to replace Darwin Nunez, who left for Liverpool at the beginning of the campaign, and has been prolific for the Eagles since.

Ramos has scored 25 goals and provided 11 assists across all competitions in 2022/23, and given Ten Hag's reputation for developing young talent, the Dutchman is now said to hope to add the Olhao native to that list.

The 37-time Primeira Liga winners are expected to ask for between £70 million and £100 million (R1.6 billion and 2.3 billion), plus add-ons, for their star forward, making it very possible the deal could eclipse the £89 million (R2.1 billion) the Red Devils paid Juventus for Pogba in 2016, which made the Frenchman the most expensive player in the Manchester club's history.

The same report claims that United's spending spree would not cease there, with the 20-time English champions said to still be interested in signing Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.

The 29-year-old's current deal in north London is nearing its final 12 months, but irrespective of this, United chiefs anticipate difficult negotiations with the Lilywhites for his services.

The Red Devils are expected to spend big in the next transfer window, with two billionaires, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, currently battling it out to buy the club.
