The president of the Brazilian FA has confirmed the rumours surrounding their pursuit of Carlo Ancelotti.

Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) chief Ednaldo Rodrigues has revealed that Ancelotti is the record world champions' top target should he be available at the end of the season.

The 63-year-old is currently under immense pressure, with Real Madrid recently losing 2-1 to Barcelona in ElClasico as the Blaugrana increased their lead at the top of the LaLiga standings to 12 points, making a title retention extremely unlikely for Ancelotti's men.

The Selecao are without a head coach after Tite resigned following Brazil's 2022 FIFA World Cup elimination at the hands of Croatia.

Now, Rodrigues has admitted that the CBF are huge admirers of the former AC Milan and Chelsea boss, and want him as the national team's next boss.

"Ancelotti is unanimously respected among players. Not only Ronaldo Nazario or Vinicius Jr, but all those that have played for him," he said, as per Reuters.

"I really admire him for his honesty in the way he works and how constant his work is. He needs no introductions. He is really a top coach who has several achievements and we hope he can have even more."

While there is an eagerness to have the Italian in the Brazilian dugout, Rodrigues also revealed that they need to respect the fact that the four-time UEFA Champions League-winning boss is still under contract at the Santiago Bernabeu and will court him accordingly.

"We will be very ethical in our approach and respect the contracts that are in place," he added.

"We also greatly respect the work that is done by any coach and his club to get there and make any kind of approach, it would be a lack of respect for the president of the clubs in question.

"Therefore, we have the patience to wait for the right moment so that we can hold these conversations."
