Spain Off To Flying Start Under New Coach

Spain 3-0 Norway

Spain got their 2024 European Championship qualifying campaign off to a flying start after defeating Norway 3-0 on Saturday night.

The home side got off to the perfect start when Alejandro Balde picked out Dani Olmo, who flicked the ball home from close range.

Norway looked to bring themselves back in the contest, but a quick-fire brace from Joselu in the final five minutes of the second half sealed the win.

Luis de La Fuente's starts his reign as Spain coach with a win, while they take on Scotland on Tuesday evening.

Croatia 1-1 Wales

Croatia and Wales could not be separated in their Group D opener after playing to a 1-1 draw at the Stadion Poljud.

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric lined up in midfield as he continues with his international career at age 37.

The Croatians opened the scoring in the 28th minute, with Andrej Kramaric firing past Danny Ward with a lovely finish.

The hosts were seemingly headed for maximum points until Nathan Broadhead bagged an equaliser for the Welsh in second-half stoppage time.

Scotland 3-0 Cyprus

Scotland got off to a winning start in Group A after thrashing Cyprus 3-0 at Hampden Park.

John McGinn opened the scoring for the home side in the 21st minute.

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay came on in the 67th minute and went on to grab a brace.

Armenia 1-2 Turkey

Turkey rallied from behind to secure a 2-1 win over Armenia in their Group D opener on Saturday evening.

The hosts took a surprising lead after just ten minute through Ozan Kabak's own goal.

Orkun Kokcu levelled matters for the visitors on 34 minutes, before Kerem Akturkoglu got the winning goal for Turkey in the 64th minute.

Belarus 0-5 Switzerland

Switzerland proved too strong for Belarus after romping to a 5-0 win at the Stadion Karadorde.

Renato Steffen grabbed the headlines after bagging a first-half hat-trick, while, Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Amdouni rounded off the scoring for the Swiss.
