Enrique Reacts To Spain's World Cup Exit

Spain manager Luis Enrique has reacted to Spain's elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the hands of history-makers Morocco.

The 2010 world champions saw their time in Qatar come to an end on Tuesday night after losing 3-0 on penalties to the Atlas Lions following a 0-0 draw after extra-time.

Spain's efforts from the spot were thwarted by Sevilla goalkeeper Bono, 31, who saved twice after substitute Pablo Sarabia's opening penalty crashed against the post.

Speaking after the game, Enrique said it was too early to discuss his future as La Furia Roja's head coach.

"I would love to continue my whole life in the national team but I have to think and reflect on what is best for me and for Spain, but now is not the time," he said, according to Barca Universal.

"It's not the time to talk about my future... I'm looking forward to getting home and seeing my family, my dogs... Next week we'll talk when the president deems it appropriate."

Spain began their World Cup campaign with a 7-0 drubbing of Costa Rica, before drawing 1-1 with Germany and losing 2-1 to Japan.

Despite their defeat in their final group-stage match, however, expectations were still high leading up to their clash against Walid Regragui's Morocco.

The European nation enjoyed the bulk of the possession and created a number of good chances in the round of 16 tie, but were unable to make them count before stumbling under the pressure of the eventual penalty shootout.
