Zungu Sets Pirates Target

Zungu Sets Pirates Target

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungu has opened up about his fitness levels and feels that he will be in top shape to face Orlando Pirates on December 31.

Zungu returned to Sundowns after leaving the Tshwane giants for a spell in Europe, but his fitness has not been at the level where he can play 90 minutes on a regular basis.

He has mostly been coming on as a substitute and is hoping to be in top condition when Sundowns take on the Buccaneers for the fourth time this season in December.

"Obviously, when I signed at Sundowns, it happened quick and physically I was not ready. I joined when there was a couple of games already. For me, first of all, I am happy to be back home to my family and to also play for Sundowns again. I have been working very hard on my fitness and they have been helping me a lot at Sundowns. I feel very happy and I don't feel pressure. I am at peace and I am doing quite well in training and, in time, my best will come," Zungu told the media during the Carling Black Label World Cup score predictor event in Sandton on Thursday.

"I am looking forward to playing and helping the team, especially in the Champions League. I am nearly there. The team is off, and I am training with the trainers at Chloorkop. It's going to be an exciting comeback. I don't feel pressure and I am not being pressured by the club. I am sure for the game against Pirates, I should be in top shape."
