Klopp Addresses Future Amid Liverpool Sale Reports

Klopp Addresses Future Amid Liverpool Sale Reports

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed what his future holds in store after it was reported this week that the Merseyside giants had been put up for sale.

After the Reds' penalty-shootout victory over Derby County in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, Klopp was questioned about rumours claiming that the Merseyside outfit had been put in the shop window.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) were up for sale with the ownership group releasing a statement claiming that they were prepared to welcome new investors.

Klopp, however, has reiterated that the club is not going to be fully taken over by new owners at this point.

"[It has] no impact at all. Pep [Lijnders] said pretty much everything in the press conference. We knew about it a bit longer, their thoughts, and I don't 100% understand why we all [say] it gets sold," he told members of the media, as per Goal.

"What I read was they are looking for investors and that makes sense. A good idea, I like that.

"It didn't distract the preparation at all. The players didn't ask me but if they want to ask me I can tell them everything. For me it means nothing."

FSG have been at the helm for 12 years, with Klopp the longest-serving manager during that tenure, and the 2019/20 Premier League-winning boss has insisted he will not be going anywhere regardless of what happens going forward.

"Whatever happens, I really like how we work together with our owners but if that would change, I'm committed to the club obviously," he added.

"As far as I know they are looking for investors and I thought that makes sense.

"First and foremost Chelsea got sold, that's how I understand it. They (FSG) are looking for investors.

"The situation is completely different: Chelsea had to get sold because their owner was in trouble. Let me sum it up like this, there was a bit of urgency in the situation. We don't have that here – not at all.

"For me is it important while the process – whatever it is - is happening we keep going and keep planning."
