With South African football currently on a break due to the upcoming African Cup of Nations, there is time to dissect some of the stats that have defined the 2016/17 campaign so far.
There are names that are expected to be in the mix when it comes to average tackles won per game, such as Willard Katsande and Edwin Gyimah, however, Katsande only just makes the top 10 and Gyimah doesn't feature at all when it comes to the best tacklers in SA at present.
It is actually Cape Town-based players that boss the table in terms of average tackles won per game, with Cape Town City and Ajax Cape Town players holding four of the top 10 spots in that regard so far this season.
Golden Arrows' Danny Phiri (3.54 per game) is currently the most successful tackler in the Absa Premiership, closely followed by Kgomotso Koena (3.10) of Highlands Park, while Mosa Lebusa (2.93) of Ajax comes in third.
