After the final matches of the year were played, Soccer Laduma looks at the top scoring players of the 2021 calendar year in the DSTV Premiership.
Mamelodi Sundowns forward Peter Shalulile was the top scorer in 2021 with 24 goals, opening up a solid gap while also proving he is the deadliest marksman in the Premiership. Of the 24 goals the Namibian international bagged, 13 of were scored this season and 11 during the second half of the last campaign.
He has been a constant problem for opposition defenders and he is even deadlier than he was last term.
Royal AM's Victor Letsoalo bagged 17 goals in 2021. Nine of the 17 goals have been netted this season. What's interesting is that Letsoalo, who was in the colours of Bloemfontein Celtic last season, bagged nine goals throughout the whole of last season.
Closest to Letsoalo on the scoring charts for 2021 is Thabiso Kutumela, who found the back of the net 14 times this year. Only two of those goals were scored in the colours of his new club Sundowns, while the other 12 were netted as captain of former club Maritzburg United.
