Khoza addressed the media at the club's training venue at Rand Stadium this morning and announced that the centre back is hanging his boots, following a series of injuries that hampered his progress in recent times.

"Dr Khoza: "I've called this conference to announce the pre-mature retirement of Siyabonga Sangweni. Siyabonga has been plagued by injury after consultation, the medics have confirmed that he has to end his career early. Siyabonga Sangweni has been a stalwart for this Club and has been a great leader. He has shown great commitment. His nickname 'Nsimbi' is reminiscent of other greats of this team, like Yster...all hard men, men of steel in character. His commitment is the same as that of Jomo Sono. Both interrupted their weddings to heed the call of the Club," Khoza has been quoted as saying by the club on Twitter.

Sangweni, 34, had his 2015/16 season cut short, following a serious knee injury he suffered earlier in the campaign. The Empangeni-born player's last game for Bucs was during the CAF Confederations Cup final second leg loss against Etoile du Sahel from Tunisia in November.
