News reaching the Siya crew is that Mamelodi Sundowns are set to downsize their squad next season, with the goalkeeping department targeted for cuts.

One of the players expected to leave the club is Reyaad Pieterse.
However, sources at Chloorkop have revealed that there are several contractual and financial complications preventing the club from releasing the former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper.
Indications are that Pieterse's contract runs until 30 June 2025, with a two-year option.
"There could have been considerations before to release him but the club had to look at the financial and contractual consequences which could be involved to pay him. His current contract only ends in June 2025 and he has a two-year option after that. The club is considering all those and the money which could be involved. It's believed that apparently he is on a big salary as well, and if the club releases him they have to pay him a lot. So that's why they are not thinking of releasing at the moment," a source revealed to the Siya crew.

In addition, it is understood that Pieterse's experience is also a factor in the club's decision-making process. Apart from Rowen Williams and Denis Onyango, Pieterse is of the most experienced goalkeepers at Sundowns.
"Remember, Sundowns play the most games compared to most teams in the PSL and they need all the experience. As much as it's true that the club wants to cut down the goalkeeping department they are looking at Reyaad's experience and hence they would to keep him and he sees his contract through," an insider revealed.
The 33-year-old joined Sundowns from SuperSport United in 2018, and has played just 12 league games for the club since his arrival. He has not featured this season.
The Siya crew reached out to Sundowns for comment, but attempts were unsuccessful.
