Former Orlando Pirates striker, Phumudzo Manenzhe, has explained that the club's preseason preparations have tired them out, which is why they failed to win in the Carling Black Label Cup against Kaizer Chiefs.
Mathoho, Macha Seal Derby Win For Chiefs
Pirates suffered a 2-0 defeat in the preseason curtain raiser and the 32-year-old has explained that it would be unfair to single out players for the disappointing performance on Saturday.
"When it comes to preseason games, you wouldn't say that someone in particular was disappointing," he explained. "You could see that some of the players' legs were heavy because of the preseason training.
"You have to take into consideration that Pirates had gone away for a week or 10 days to Potchefstroom to prepare. But you could really see that they were overloaded and that happens in preseason."
No Formal Offers For Bucs' Majoro
Manenzhe went on to say that, despite the disappointing work on the pitch, goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo put in a great performance between the posts.
"If I could pick a standout player for Pirates, I would say it was Brighton Mhlongo in goal. He really had a terrific game," he concluded.
