Marumo Gallants technical director Harris Choeu has revealed that Romain Folz wanted him out from day one and they were not on speaking terms.
Folz has left Gallants after handing his resignation for what he described as interference at the club. This was revealed by the Siya crew before Gallants' clash against Swallows FC on at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
In his interview with the Siya crew, Folz outlined what led to his decision.
"I will tell you exactly what happened. What happened is that last night the management of the club tried to force me to change my line-up to have multiple changes on everything. So, basically, they tried to change the line-up and I was told there would be consequences if I didn't want that to happen. I was told that the assistant coach would be in charge if I didn't want to comply and I said okay because that is not what my contract says," said Folz.
Choeu spoke to the Siya crew about the relationship he had with Folz and responded to talk about interference at Gallants.
"When he came, the first thing he said was that he does not want the technical director, meaning me. He said if the chairman (Abram Sello) wants to see the best of him, then they must move me away. This was within the first two days of working for the club. He did not give an explanation why. He wanted to talk to the chairman directly, until the chairman said 'I am going to tell this man to excuse himself from the first team'. The chairman was convinced. So, he started reporting directly to the chairman and from pre-season, I have not been part of the team, until yesterday (Sunday) when the chairman called me. He did not even want to see me in the bus, so I stayed away. I was working with the Diski Challenge (side) and with our ladies team. He was not even talking to me," Choeu told the Siya crew.
"He did not want to hear anything from anybody. He did not want meetings. The chairman did not even interfere. He is lying. What interference? He was in charge. It's only yesterday when the chairman asked why a certain player was not there. He is also human. They don't want to respond to anybody. They want to destroy the structure of the team. It's like someone who just qualified to be a pilot, how can this person fly alone without supervision? This one he wanted to be unsupervised. When he fails, now he wants to talk about interference. He was taking chances."
