After the Betway Premiership concluded it's calendar year last weekend, Soccer Laduma looks at who were the top goal-scorers of 2024 in all competitions.

Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa finished the 2023/24 season as the top goalscorer in the league with 16 goals and after he scored the first hat-trick of the season, where does he rank among the top goalscorers of the year 2024?

As things stand, Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners is the leading goalscorer in the league with six goals, followed by his teammate Lucas Ribeiro Costa on five goals.

In spite of netting a hat-trick in an 8-1 demolition of Marumo Gallants by Orlando Pirates, Mabasa actually has only reached four goals in the Betway Premiership, equal with his teammate Evidence Makgopa.

However, taking into account all competitions, the leading goalscorer of 2024 in the PSL is Rayners, who finished the year with 24 goals.

'Iqi' scored 11 goals this calendar in the colours of Stellenbosch and has added a further 13 goals since he was signed by Masandawana.

Mabasa has come second in the prolific goal-scorers list of 2024, with 20 goals to his name.

The former Bloemfontein Celtic striker scored 13 goals in all tournaments since he returned from his loan spell at Pirates in January 2024 and has scored seven goals in the new season.

Rayners and Mabasa have been the most consistent strikers by far in the last calendar year, as the closest to them is Costa, who only scored 14 goals in 2024.

The Brazilian forward scored six goals for Masandawana from January to June last year and has found the back of the net eight times since the new campaign started.

Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile had a year to forget, after scoring only six goals from January to December, although his tally for the 2023/24 campaign was decent, as he netted 15 goals.

SuperSport United forward Bradley Grobler also did most of his scoring in the first-half of the 2023/24 season, after finishing the campaign with 12 goals to his name.

However, Grobler has only scored seven goals in 2024, although it is mostly due to his long term injury that kept him out for a considerable period.
