Kaizer Have A Relatively Good Record In Cup Finals Of Late

Kaizer Chiefs have just booked their spot in their first cup final since the 2015 Telkom Knockout final, but how have they fared in finals over the last decade?

Take a look at Chiefs' last eight cup final results in the gallery above

The Glamour Boys are currently enduring the longest barren streak in the club's history, having not won a single major trophy since clinching the Absa Premiership in 2014/15, however that could change when they head into next month's Nedbank Cup final.

Ernst Middendorp has successfully steered the Amakhosi into the final of the Nedbank where they will face TS Galaxy for the title, and it could be a big moment for the club due to the fact that they haven't won this tournament since Stuart Baxter's first season in 2012/13.

But how have they fared in finals since the 2008/09 season? They've been in eight finals…

The Wins…
Of the eight cup finals that Chiefs have managed to qualify for over the past 20 years, they've managed to go all the way and win five of them – most recently beating Orlando Pirates to clinch the MTN8 title in 2014.

Chiefs have won all three of South Africa's domestic cups – the MTN8, TKO and Nedbank – at least once over the last decade, beating the likes of Pirates, SuperSport United, Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns along the way as they picked up a number of trophies through the years.

The Losses…
More recently than their victories, Chiefs have known more cup final defeats in recent years – with Steve Komphela's first campaign at the club seeing him reach two finals, the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout, however suffered losses in both of them to Ajax and Sundowns respectively.

Looking further back, and possibly one of the most painful, was the 2011 MTN8 loss against bitter rivals, Orlando Pirates, in a tight game where they were narrowly beaten by an Oupa Manyisa goal in extra time.

Which is your favourite Kaizer Chiefs cup win over the last decade?
