Former Highlands Park co-director and shareholder Brad Kaftel has opened up on the strained relationship with his co-director Sinky Mnisi, following the sale of the club's top-flight status.
After incurring a sizeable debt in their six-year professional stint, the powers that be at Highlands Park decided that the only way to salvage their debt was to sell the club. While this seemed like a feasible option, it split opinions of the directors.
More particularly that of Mnisi, who stated in the media that the deal was done without his knowledge and that he would go the legal route in opposing the sale.
Now, with the club having sold their Premiership status to TS Galaxy, Kaftel has opened up to Soccer Laduma edition 1192 on his relationship with Mnisi and why he is confident they will mend their strained relationship.
"Sinky and I have always had a good relationship. He had been fully informed all the way. He even came to my office and we sat for over an hour-and-a half and we discussed everything.
"I started seeing things in the media which, to me, really made no sense at all. But look, we will work it out with Sinky. We value him and we will sort it out and we will make sure that he exits with a reasonable package and that he is well looked after.
"Over the last two weeks, the relationship was strained, but I have to look at our relationship over the last six years and say there's been ups and downs, like in any relationship. There's been lots more ups than downs.
"He's a fantastic administrator. I rate him 10 out of 10. I did speak to his lawyer and there did seem to be some disbelief about the purchase price. I don't know if he heard somewhere about a different purchase.
"You know people in football sometimes talk things up, they don't talk things down. Maybe he thought we were not disclosing everything, which is not the case, and maybe he got misinformed, which created this sudden change in attitude. But we will work it out. We always do," Kaftel said.
