DStv Premiership Report: Baroka v Bloemfontein Celtic 20 March 2021

Result: Baroka 1-1 Bloemfontein Celtic

Date: 20 March 2021

Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium

Baroka FC battled back to secure a 1-1 draw against Bloemfontein Celtic in a DStv Premiership clash on Saturday afternoon.

Goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke was relegated to the substitutes bench as Elvis Chipezeze returned, whilst Celtic missed captain Ndumiso Mabena through suspension.

Siwelele Sa Masele made a bright opening a minute before the 20th minute mark after Victor Letsoalo fired home the first goal of the afternoon's encounter.

As Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele attempted a comeback, an injury enforced substitution inside the last seven minutes of the half forced them to remove Kgodiso Monama and introduce Nhlanhla Mgaga.

With halftime on the horizon, Celtic were keen to add to their advantage whereas Bakgaga targeted an equaliser but it was the visitors who maintained their lead into the break.

No side made changes upon the start of the second half, whilst Siwelele looked keen to extend their tally from the first spell and Baroka so ever orchestrating a turnaround.

The home side were reduced 10 men with 20 minutes left of the contest when goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze was given his marching orders.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Bakgaga bounced back in the remaining eight minutes of the match and managed to pull themselves all square through a finish from Richard Mbulu.

Both sides finished a man less as Celtic's Justice Chabalala was shown a red card deep in second-half stoppage time, as the encounter finished all square.
