Downs' Matthias Looks Set For Another Loan Move

The Siya crew understands that Mamelodi Sundowns defender, Emmanuel Mathias, is set for another loan move as his prospects of game-time look slim for next season. Matthias signed for the Brazilians over a season ago, but is yet to kick a ball in an official game for the 2013/14 Absa Premiership champions. He spent the latter stages of the previous campaign out on loan at Zesco United in Zambia, together with Hichani Himoonde. He showed good progress during his stint there, although at one stage suffered an injury, but will once again find game-time hard to come by in Pitso Mosimane's star-studded team. According to sources, the club is considering loaning him out again in order to taste regular action, although his next destination is not a certainty at this stage. The 28-year-old Matthias plays at right back, a position which Sundowns recently bolstered with the signing of Siyanda Zwane and Rheece Evans. Our sources further reveal that the player is confused about his current situation and has been cutting a frustrated figure at training. The Togolese international has been a bit of a journeyman in his career, having also had spells with clubs in Nigeria, Togo, Tunisia and Israel. His contract with Downs expires in June 2015, with the club having an option to extend for another year.
