Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns could face off for a third time this campaign, though this time silverware is at stake with both Gauteng giants confirming their participation in the Home of Legends Cup.

Sundowns managed to oust Chiefs on two occasions this season; first in the Premiership, and then in the Carling Knockout Cup.

There could be a potential third fixture between the two teams in a new tournament called the Home of Legend's Cup, which will be taking place during the international break Cup on 16 November, 2024 in Gqeberha.

Chiefs, Sundowns, Chippa United and Lamontville Golden Arrows are the four teams that are set to lock horns at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, this one-day tournament organised by the Mandela Bay Development Agency.

Aside from Fiacre Ntwari and Rushwin Dortley, Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi is expected to have his full haul of players available for the encounter.

"We're delighted to be part of this initiative. The Home of Legends Cup exemplifies the country's passion for the beautiful game and the spirit of unity that defines South African football. It's an excellent opportunity for our team to stay competitive during the break and keep our loyal supporters entertained," Kaizer Chiefs' Marketing and Commercial Director Jessica Motaung said via the club's official website.

Having recently won the CUFA Cup in Bloemfontein, Chiefs will be looking to add one more accolade to the club's achievements, while the tournament does present coach Nasreddine Nabi with the opportunity to further fine-tune his team for the resumption of the Premiership.
