Arsenal Scouting Mpumalanga Black Aces Young Star

Mpumalanga Black Aces midfielder, Aubrey Modiba, is being tracked by scouts from English Premier League giants, Arsenal FC.

Under the mentorship of Coach Muhsin Ertugral, Modiba has featured in 18 of Aces' 22 league games played to date this season and the youngster has played a key role in what has been an impressive Absa Premiership run for AmaZayoni.

The 20-year-old has reportedly been identified as a special talent by the English scouts and they are tracking his progress in the PSL. However, even if the North London outfit decides to pursue their interest in the former School of Excellence player, it would be near-impossible for the player to receive a UK work permit.

The rules and regulations to receive a work permit in order to play in the UK are very stringent. In order for a player to receive one, there are a combination of prerequisites, which include the player's country's FIFA ranking and the number of appearances the player has made for his national team.

In Modiba's case he fails to meet the requirements and while there are special conditions for receiving a permit, it's unlikely, and in fact almost impossible, that he will. If Modiba does end up making the move abroad, he will most likely be loaned out elsewhere in Europe to gain experience.

With age on his side, however, he will have time to work his way into the European system and it would allow him to work towards a possible future at Arsenal in what is one of the world's top leagues.

Called for comment, the player's agent Glyn Binkin of The Players Club, admitted that he is not aware of the interest.

"I am unaware of the interest, but we would welcome it. For now, Aubrey is focussed on his football at Aces," said Binkin.
