It is Thursday again, and, as usual, Supporters Club throws back. Today, we take you down memory lane, back to the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Bafana Bafana, under the mentorship of Clive Barker, topped the group standings to secure a spot in the quarter-finals. The boys managed to beat Algeria 2-1 and went on to face off against Ghana in the semi's.
The Black Stars were undefeated when Barker's charges were drawn up against them, but the South African national team put their hearts on their sleeves and were victorious after a 3-0 win.
Mark Williams was the hero for all South Africans in the final against as his two goals saw captain Neil Tovey lift the AFCON title.
What memories do you have of the 1996 AFCON tournament? Also, do you think Bafana can lift the title once again?
