#TBT Remeber When Usuthu Walloped Amakhosi To Win The Coca-Cola Cup?

#TBT Remeber When Usuthu Walloped Amakhosi To Win The Coca-Cola Cup?

It's Thursday and Supporters Club throws back. Today, we take you down memory lane to the first Coca-Cola Cup final between Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu, in 1992.

The game was played at a fully packed FNB Stadium, and both teams had star players under their belts, with Chiefs having the likes of Doctor Khumalo, Neil Tovey, Lucas Radebe, Gardner Seale, Johannes Phadime, Fani Madida and Ace Khuse, while Usuthu had superstars like Shadrack Biemba, George Dearnaly, Simon Magagula, Owen Nzimande, Joe Mlaba and their inspirational captain, Tim Nzoyi.

Usuthu were first to draw blood, just before half-time, through Dearnaly. The second half started off with a bang as both teams had a go at each other, and it was substitute Phadime, who had replaced Ace Khuse, who equalised in the dying minutes to take the game to extra-time.

Usuthu took the lead again in the first half of the extra time through their ace, Magagula. Their goalkeeper Biemba was the hero of the day as he pulled off match-winning saves when Amakhosi were throwing waves of attack at them.

Biemba then set up Ephraim Mwelase with a long kick to net Usuthu's third goal. At the end of the game, the scoreline read: Kaizer Chiefs 1-3 AmaZulu, and Usuthu were crowned the 1992 Coca-Cola Cup champions!

What memories do you have of that thrilling encounter?
