Kaizer Chiefs shift focus to Nedbank Cup matters this evening as they take on Maritzburg United in the round of 32.

Teams: Maritzburg United v Kaizer Chiefs

Date: 10 January 2023

Venue: Harry Gwala Stadium

Time: 19h30

The Nedbank Cup remains Chiefs' only realistic hope of winning a trophy this season as they look to end their eight-year trophy drought.

The Glamour Boys' struggles for consistency continued last weekend after they were held to a goalless draw by TS Galaxy in the DStv Premiership.

Chiefs were knocked out in the first round of this tournament for two  last consecutive seasons after an exit at the hands of Richards Bay in 2021 was followed by another upset by TS Galaxy last season.

Maritzburg, meanwhile, seemed to have turned their season around after three consecutive victories under the guidance of Fadlu Davids but could not win their last two games after playing to a 1-1 draw against AmaZulu the last time out.

The Team of Choice will be looking to get over the first hurdle in this tournament after they were knocked out at this stage last season by SuperSport United.

Chiefs beat Maritzburg 3-0 in the first-round league clash early in the season back in August last year.

Here's how they line up:

Maritzburg United: Ndlovu, Tlolane, De Goede, Palace, Graham, Cross, Moloisane, Jooste, Meza, Kimvuidi, Peprah

Subs: Leaner, Ndengane, Samu, Bhengu, Makume, Buthelezi, Human, Ritchie, Soukouna

Kaizer Chiefs: Peterson, Dove, Kwinika, Hlanti, Ngezana, Dolly, Maart, Sithebe, Du Preez, Shabalala, Saile

Subs: Khune, Mathoho, Nange, Ngcobo, Matlou, Sekgota, Mashiane, Zwane, Duba
