The Natal Rich Boyz missed the chance to move top over the weekend after they were held to a goalless draw by neighbours Maritzburg United on Saturday.
Richards Bay will enter the contest third on the Premiership table and can move top if they win and league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns lose to Marumo Gallants.
City, meanwhile, saw their Champions League journey come to an end on Friday after a 1-0 loss to Petro du Luanda in the second preliminary round.
Back on home soil, the Citizens are unbeaten in their last six matches although they have drawn the previous two encounters against Golden Arrows and Sekhukhune United.
