With Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs both missing key players through injury ahead of the Soweto Derby, we take a look at the market values of the Soweto giants' missing stars, which amounts to an incredible R117 million!
The country will once again come to a standstill on Saturday afternoon as two of the biggest clubs in Mzansi go head-to-head for bragging rights as well as a passage up the DStv Premiership table.
Pirates coaches, Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids as well as Stuart Baxter in the Chiefs dugout have been dealt a blow as they will be without some integral players in their starting XI come Saturday.
For Pirates, their lengthy injury list is one that has hampered their progress this season.
The likes of Richard Ofori €800k (±R14.1m), Wayne Sandilands €150k (±R2.6m), Innocent Maela €1m (±R17.6m), Happy Jele €350k (±R6.1m), Zakhele Lepasa €250k (±R4.4m) and Thembinkosi Lorch €875k (±R15.4m), will all miss the clash for the Buccaneers owing to various injuries.
Meanwhile for Amakhosi, they too, have their fair share of injury woes with the likes of Samir Nurkovic €575k (±R10.1m), Leo Castro €650k (±R11.4m), Dumisani Zuma €250k (±R4.4m), Lebo Manyama €550k (±R9.7m), Siya Ngezana €450k (±R7.9m), and more recently, Sifiso Hlanti €775k (±R13.6m), all missing out through injury.
A win for Pirates could see them move as high as third place on the log standings while Chiefs they could move into fourth place if they manage to secure all three points against their fierce rivals.
