What's the story?

Four gamers carry South Africa's hopes in the FIFAe Nations Online Qualifiers 2023 and they headed to Dubai on Thursday evening for the first round. 

South Africa is one of five nations participating in Dubai alongside, Egypt, Morocco, Kenya, and Ghana and will hope to come out on top against the best on the Africa-Middle East region to make the playoffs.

SA gamers head to Dubai

It's all to play for at the FIFAe Nations Online Qualifiers 2023 in Dubai for SAFA National gamers; Zaid April, Thabo Moloi, Kaylan Moodley Julio Bianchi. 

The competition is part of the worldwide FIFAe Nations Series 2023 where FIFA Member Associations select their national teams to qualify for the global finals coming in June this year.

SAFA has been participating since 2019 and will hope that this year's crop of experienced and young gamers will topple Bahrain, Palestine, Morocco, Egypt, and Ghana in their tricky group A to make the playoffs next month.

The top six winners from this qualification phase will make it to the FIFAe Nations Play-offs next month, joining Saudi Arabia and UAE to make the final eight, which determines the three nations from Zone 3 that will book their tickets to the global finals in June this year as part of the best 24 FIFA 23 playing teams in the world.

The winner there will be crowned the FIFAe Nations World Champion.
