How Much Did Marumo Pay To The Birds?

Following the sale of Moroka Swallows to Marumo Gallants, the Siya crew has been given insight into how much the Dube Birds were sold for.

The sale was confirmed by the management of Gallants on Thursday afternoon, with the club revealing that they are working behind the scenes to finalise their playing and coaching staff for the new campaign. A press conference will be held to reveal everything in the coming days.

The Siya crew has been informed by high ranking sources that the Dube Birds have been sold in the region of forty to R45 million. Gallants confirmed that they are going to play their matches in Bloemfontein and chances are that the players will be based there too, to ensure they save on costs.

It had been a difficult time in the top flight for Swallows, whose financial troubles were widely reported over the years. Without a big sponsor to rely on, chairman David Mogashoa had to dig deep into his pockets to keep the club afloat, but it took a toll on him.

Gallants chairman Abram Sello, who is no stranger to buying a top flight club having previously done so with Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, has also had his fair share of problems that have been reported in the past.

While Gallants were competing in the CAF Confederation Cup during the 2022/23 campaign, players were understood to have not been happy about unpaid bonuses from the club.
