As previously reported by the Siya crew, it is believed that Kaizer Chiefs are eyeing AmaZulu FC defender Riaan Hanamub for their first-choice left-back position, if they are unable to prize away long-time target, Stellenbosch FC's Fawaaz Basadien.

However, it seems affordability issues may pose a problem for Amakhosi in securing the Namibian from Usuthu, as sources close to both clubs have indicated.
The sources added that AmaZulu are demanding at least R8 million for Hanamub, who is valued at R8.5 million, while Chiefs are believed to be offering R4 million. The source stated that although there has been interest from Chiefs, nothing much has happened due to the disagreement on the evaluation.
"They are still looking at getting a left back and they are not just looking at any left back but a good one that is also affordable. Since they are struggling to get Basadien they turned their attention to Riaan (Hanamub) and AmaZulu are pricing him at R8.5m but are willing to let him go for R8m but Chiefs are willing to only go as far as R4 million. That's where the situation is getting tough for Chiefs. They want the player but the issue is the money right now and Hanamub is less expensive when compared to Basadien. So we are not sure what will happen now," the Siya source stated.

A second insider stated that Chiefs don't want to use up significantly more of their budget on a defender before they can sign the top striker they are targeting.
"For now they are looking at both a striker and a defender but they are budgeting more money for a striker and that is why they don't want to spend much money on a defender and fail to get a striker. So, they could sacrifice the left back if the money is too much and go for a striker but their aim is to get both of them if possible," the second source stated.
