With Orlando Pirates expected to make a decision on their coaching situation, sources have weighed in on Joseph Makhanya's future with the club.
Since 2022, Makhanya has been working as the coach of Pirates' DStv Diski Challenge team and has been lauded for fast-tracking the growth of the reserve side players.

Following their successful season with a second successive cup double, the Buccaneers were dealt a blow with the resignation of Sergio Almenara who has been one of the club's assistant coaches.
With head coach Jose Riveiro expected to decide on who to fill Almenara's position as a second assistant alongside Mandla Ncikazi, there have been talks of a possible elevation of Makhanya to the role.
Earlier this year, Makhanya served as Riveiro's assistant in the Carling All-Stars side that played against Stellenbosch FC in January.
The duo led the select side made up of some of the best players in the league, as per tournament organisers' initiative, to 2-1 victory over Stellies who won the Carling Knockout earlier in the season.
However, close sources have indicated that there have been no plans to move Makhanya away from Bucs' reserve team, at least for now.

"It's just rumours. Yes, it would be good for someone like him who is a club legend to get an opportunity like that in the first team but it isn't something that has been in discussions at this stage," said the source.
As reported by the Siya crew, Riveiro could be set to decide on another coach from abroad to strengthen his technical team.
