Surprise Nabi Interest In Outgoing Pirates Star?

Richard Ofori for Orlando Pirates during the 2024 Nedbank Cup Final Orlando Pirates Media Day at the Orlando Stadium, Soweto on 28 May 2024

An outgoing Orlando Pirates star could be set for a move to Kaizer Chiefs, as plans for the new season by their upcoming coach, will be taken to the next level at Naturena.

With Chiefs expected to make a decision on veteran goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune's future as his contract will be expiring next week, Richard Ofori has emerged as a possible transfer target for Nasreddine Nabi who should soon be named as the club's head coach.

Ofori is unattached after his contract was due to expire at the end of this month, wasn't renewed.

The Ghanaian has been with the Buccaneers for four seasons, having joined the club in 2020 from Maritzburg United.

According to a reliable source, Ofori is one of the players that Nabi could look to lure as he will be making changes to the squad on his arrival.

Ofori is keen on reviving his career after a disappointing last season with Bucs and the Chiefs project could be perfect for him to do just that to silence his critics, being an experienced international that he is.

The 30-year-old failed to make a single appearance in the league last season for Pirates, with his contribution made only in the CAF Champions League on three occasions.

Overall, Ofori played 58 matches in all competitions for Bucs and managed to keep 29 clean sheets.

It remains to be seen what decision Nabi will make on the shot-stopper, as well as a few other players that have been linked with the Soweto giants, including TS Galaxy goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, as reported by the Siya crew this week.

Polokwane City and Bafana Bafana winger Oswin Appollis, Sekhukhune United's Elias Mokwana, Ashley Cupido and Rushwin Dortley from Cape Town Spurs, as well as Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FC are some of the players that have been linked with Amakhosi.
