Moroka Swallows are being threatened with another transfer ban after losing their appeal against former player Daniel Gozar, the Siya crew has been reliably informed.
The club had the Ghanaian national on their books from 2020 to 2023, although he was at one stage loaned to Black Leopards. He then had his contract terminated last year and went on to sign a deal with Kucuk Kaymakli in Cyprus.
Having taken the matter to FIFA through his legal representatives, the 30-year-old won the case in May last year, but the Dobsonville-based outfit appealed.
The world's football governing body has since confirmed that the club's appeal has been dismissed and that they have been ordered to pay the player the monies owed to him as well as the costs of the arbitration, the player's legal fees, as well as the other expenses incurred during the arbitration proceedings.
Soccer Laduma has seen the documents confirming all the above.
"The appeal filed on 30 June 2023 by Swallows FC against the decision rendered by the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber on 4 May is dismissed. The decision rendered by the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber on 4 May 2023 is confirmed," reads FIFA's statement, in part.
Swallows have previously been banned from signing players for monies owed to former players Obren Cuckovic and Vladimir Mandic.
The ban was lifted in January last year after the matter was resolved.
"Former Swallows player Daniel Gozar has won the case against the club. The player had his contract against the club terminated last year and he took the matter to FIFA to challenge it and he won," said a source.
"Swallows appealed but have since lost again and have been ordered to pay the monies owed to the player. Any failure to pay Gozar what is due to him could result in another transfer ban," concluded the source.
