New PSL Role Bandied About For Seema?

New PSL Role Bandied About For Seema?

Lehlohonolo Seema is linked with a return to the PSL as one of the ambitious clubs in the league are understood to be considering to bring him on board.

Seema has been unattached since he officially parted ways with Sekhukhune United in June, having initially been placed on special leave in May, just before the season ended.

Having done well with Babina Noko on their way to finishing 4th on the log, Seema's impressive work hasn't gone unnoticed, with indications that the former Lesotho international is being considered for a role at Richards Bay.

Richards Bay, who recently received a massive financial boost after acquiring a R100 million sponsorship from Phakwe Gas, will be leaving no stone unturned in planning for a better season after having managed to save their top flight status through the play-offs following a disappointing 2023/24 season with inconsistent results.

While club chairman Sifiso 'Jomo' Biyela confirmed that Vusumuzi 'Kanu' Vilakazi will continue as the head coach after he had his contract extended for another year plus an option to further extend that, indications are that the KwaZulu-Natal outfit could look to further strengthen the technical team.

Vilakazi did well in avoiding automatic relegation when he guided the Natal Rich Boyz to the play-offs and eventually retained the club's top flight status and is being appreciated for the role he played in the team's progress.

"Kanu (Vilakazi) is the head coach for the upcoming season and that hasn't changed. But there could be plans to beef up the technical team, and that's where Seema's name comes in. There is nothing unusual about it as most of the clubs do it these days, if you look at the likes of (Mamelodi) Sundowns and Sekhukhune (United) who have had senior coaches and all these positions, which is a new trend in football. Seema is being considered for a role in the technical team of Richards Bay," said the source.

"You must remember that even when Kanu joined the club in December, he was brought in to work with Kaitano Tembo who was the head coach at the time. Unfortunately, things didn't work out well for Kaitano, and he later left the club," the source concluded.

Having previously been involved in co-coaching when he worked with Mabhuti Khenyeza at Golden Arrows, Vilakazi said he was comfortable with it and had no issues with such a a system.
