Last month the Siya crew reported that talks were happening between Erasmus' camp and City management, but according to well-placed sources, the 34-year-old had been informed that there needed to be movement out of the club in order for a move to become a possibility.
The club has subsequently moved on one of their best players in Mayo.
In terms of a return to City where Erasmus enjoyed a fruitful spell in the 2019/20 season, the pathway has been cleared and now Siya sources have indicated that the two parties could once again open talks over Erasmus' potential return to the Mother City.
Erasmus recently became a free agent after his Orlando Pirates deal came to an end upon the conclusion of the 2023/24 season. As one of the most lethal goalscorers in the Premiership, the experienced striker has been weighing up his options with regards to his next move.
City have been busy in the transfer market by roping in the likes of Fortune Makaringe, Haashim Domingo, Kamohelo Mokotjo, Carlinhos, Kayden Francis and Elson Sithole, though there hasn't been much in terms of exits from the club.
With City in need of a renowned striker and Erasmus in need of a club, it remains to be seen if the two parties can come to an agreement to make a move for Erasmus happen, or whether the striker will have to continue his club search ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
