Lance Davids sets the record straight over allegations

Former Bafana Bafana midfielder turned agent Lance Davids has set the record straight regarding allegations made against him.

In edition 1234 of Soccer Laduma, Cape Town Spurs CEO Alexi Efstathiou responded to allegations made by the club's former winger Riyaad Norodien, accusing the Cape club of being greedy, opting to sell himself and Abbubaker Mobara to Orlando Pirates as opposed to Europe.

In the interview, Efstathiou mentions Lance Davids as the player's agent at the time.

"The Orlando Pirates move was one that you (Norodien) and your agent agreed to. At the time, it was Lance Davids. You recently blamed him too. He advised you and you agreed. No transfer ever takes place until all parties agree. Maybe your agent told you there was an overseas move, and we did not accept. There was never a concrete offer on the table from Europe for you.  However, there was interest for Mobara, as you know,  and he was sent to Ajax Amsterdam on trial, he never made it. Lance Davids was his agent too, " Efstathiou replied to the 26-year-old.

However, Davids has now come out to set the record straight, revealing that he was not the agent representing the talented winger at the time and that he had never represented either player.

"I would like to set the record straight with regards to comments made by Alexi Efstathiou, the CEO of Cape Town Spurs. In responding to an interview Riyaad Norodien did with Soccer Laduma, Mr Efstathiou claimed I was the player's agent when he moved to Orlando Pirates in 2016 and had promised him heaven and earth.

"But I have never been Riyaad's representative, if Alexi asked his brother (Ari Efstathiou) there would have never been any confusion because he was the CEO at the time. It is also crucial for me to mention that I am not the kind of agent that makes false promises to my clients. That is not how we do our business, the player's interest always comes first," Davids told the crew.
