It appears Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs aren't the only clubs interested in striker Khanyisa Mayo, who is currently leading the goal scorers charts in the DStv Premiership so far this season.
The Cape Town City forward has been linked with the Gauteng giants for some time now, but chairman John Comitis is only willing to sell to the highest bidder – preferably overseas, where Mayo can further his career.
Soccer Laduma has now been informed that the 25-year-old is being monitored in Greece and the Major League Soccer in the USA.
And his price tag is no secret after Comitis publicly vowed to let the player go for a whopping R37 million under certain conditions.
"I made a statement that if Mayo scores 15 goals this season, then USD 2 million is his price tag. I don't think I am wrong. Even that number now with what's happening with the African Football League (AFL), they are throwing money around like it's nothing – let it come my way. At this stage, we are happy with Mayo, he still has a long-term contract with us," the City boss said during an interview on Metro FM late last year.
The Mthatha-born star scored 12 times for the Citizens in the previous campaign and has already netted eight times this season, edging closer to the tally Comitis wants with 13 league matches remaining.
For his prowess, the Bafana Bafana international was rewarded with a new contract that now runs until June 2028.
