Kaizer Chiefs have a decision to make as they deliberate over the future of a defender whose contract is nearing its conclusion at the end of the season, the Siya crew understands.
Siya sources close to the club have indicated that there are different opinions as to whether they should retain Njabulo Ngcobo or allow him to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Amakhosi will understandably be in a better position to decide when they confirm a permanent coach who would provide his own insight on any player in question.
"For now it's getting difficult for the team to make the final decision on Njabulo (Ngcobo). They want to keep him when his contract expires at the end of the season but at the same time the player wants to go where he will play regularly," said the Siya source.
"You know he joined Chiefs from Moroka Swallows where he was a regular and even won the Defender of the Season award but he has not been himself since he joined Chiefs and he wants to change that by moving to another team.
"At first the team felt like they could let him go but now they have second thoughts as other defenders have also been struggling and they are looking at the future of the club as well. They want to loan out another player and if they can do that then they will need Njabulo (Ngcobo). Hence there is a difficult decision as to whether to keep him or let him go," the source observed.
The situation is further complicated by interest from other clubs, including AmaZulu FC and Stellenbosch FC, who have prompted Chiefs to reconsider their stance, according a second Siya source.
"The interest from other clubs has also made Chiefs look at the whole situation differently. They bought the player as a Defender of the Season just two seasons ago and now they are about to lose him for free so they don't want that to happen, that's why they want to extend his contract before the end of the season. Right now they are like caught between a rock and a hard place," the source told Soccer Laduma.
Soccer Laduma reached out to Chiefs for a comment on the matter but no response was received by the time this story was published.
As the season progresses, the decision on Ngcobo's future will be closely watched by fans and analysts alike, marking a critical juncture for both the player and the club. Whether Ngcobo remains at Naturena or embarks on a new chapter elsewhere, his situation highlights the intricate balance clubs must navigate between player aspirations and team objectives.
