UAE Interest In Two Stellies Stars

Ishmael Toure, right, has attracted interest from the UAE.

Soccer Laduma has been led to believe that Stellenbosch FC have received offers from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for two defenders, but are holding out for an English Championship move for one of them.

As usual, Stellies look set to lose some of their best players and the club is believed to be already planning to have replacements on board.

Soccer Laduma has been informed that a club in the UAE has made contact with Stellies over the services of big defender Ismael Olivier Toure.

Indications are that the clubs are currently in discussion over a move and then they will engage the player on personal terms.

“The UAE club made an offer for their defender,” an insider said to Soccer Laduma.

Following news that English Championship side Queens Park Rangers are in talks to sign Stellenbosch defender Tyson Smith, it’s been established that they turned down an offer from the UAE for the youngster.

Smith has attracted attention after playing a key role in the U20 Africa Cup of Nations success with Amajita recently. QPR are believed to have an expressed a serious interest and it's now all about reaching an agreement.

“There was an offer for Tylon from the UAE, but Stellenbosch refused. They are waiting on QPR,” an insider revealed to Soccer Laduma.

It’s been established that QPR are looking at securing the young defender on a long-term deal, but there’s still an agreement that has to be made.

Soccer Laduma made an effort to get a comment from Stellenbosch, but the club declined to comment.

"As a matter of policy, the club does not comment on transfer related rumours and speculation," said Liam Bekker, who is the head of media and stakeholder relations at the club.
