Chiefs Experience Is A Factor For AmaZulu Midfielder's New Contract

AmaZulu FC could be looking to give their midfielder a two-year contract extension, the Siya crew has been informed on the latest with the former Kaizer Chiefs player.

Now, Siya sources at the Durban club have indicated that they may be offering Hendrick Ekstein a new deal.

The source added that his initial two-year contract is finishing at the end of this current season and that the technical team has recommended that he stays on at the club.

"The technical team are happy with his performance and they have recommended to management that he should stay at the team. He had been doing very well since the new coach took over and even the player himself is committed the the club 100% and that's the reason behind the new offer from the club," said the Siya source.

"They know he can still contribute to the team and the new offer is two years," the source observed.

A second Siya source added that the former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder has the experience that the team needs going forward, hence the new offer is expected to go through.

"Apart from just the presence on the field of play, the club needs his experience off the field for youngsters to learn a thing or two from him. He was promoted from Chiefs' juniors and he has been there for some time now and that is the experience AmaZulu are looking at, for the youngsters to learn from him but also his contribution on the field of play is visible and important hence the new two-year offer from the club.

"It's not a done deal yet but the talks are already ongoing and it looks promising so far," the source added.

When contacted for comment AmaZulu FC PRO Philani Ndlela noted the club's official stance on these developments.

"All contract renewals negotiations are on hold until end of the season," Ndlela told Soccer Laduma.
