His recent showing at the 2023 Afcon for Bafana Bafana could provide Evidence Makgopa with a third swing at playing in Europe after his two previous attempts fell through. The player had not one but two opportunities to play in Europe.
First, Soccer Laduma understands, there was a chance for the striker to go to Denmark back in 2022 after he managed to attract interest from an unknown team that was keen on buying him from Baroka FC at the time.
However, the Ga-Mampane-born star landed a deal with the Buccaneers instead. As if that was not enough, a move to Europe beckoned yet again, this time a loan deal to Ligue 1, although Siya sources indicated that Pirates were not keen on the idea, despite the fact that Makgopa had not featured for them at the time. Now, news that has landed on the Siya crew's desk indicates that teams from Poland and Norway have enquired about his services.
The identity of the teams has not been revealed, as has the extent of their enquiries at this stage. However, due to their respective transfer windows being still open, it is understood the clubs are keen on landing Bafana's emerging marksman before deadline.
But whether the Soweto giants will give in, having just parted ways with Bienvenu Eva Nga and with Souaibou Marou's future far from certain, remains up in the air.
