Ex-Bafana Star Adds To Messi's Woes

Bradley Carnell's Philadelphia Union remain top of the Eastern Conference standings after playing to a 3-3 draw against Lionel Messi's Inter Miami.

South African defender Olwethu Makhanya completed the 90 minutes for Union, who let a two-goal lead slip in the final 15 minutes of the clash.

Despite dropping points Carnell's Union are enjoying their best-ever start to a season with 30 points in their opening 15 minutes, beating the record of 28 points they set in 2020.

Elsewhere, Bongokuhle Hlongwane was a second-half substitute in Minnesota United's 1-1 draw with Austin.

The former Maritzburg United star was introduced in the 61st minute in his 13th appearances of the season.

Former SuperSport United defender Michael Boxall scored Minnesota's opening goal in the 16th minute.

Tsiki Ntsabeleng was introduced in the 74th minute for FC Dallas, who suffered a 1-0 loss to Seattle Sounders.

Sweden

Bafana Bafana midfielder Luke le Roux played the full 90 minutes for Varnamo, who drew 1-1 with Oster on Saturday afternoon.

The 25-year-old has mad 11 appearances since the turn of the year, with all 11 coming from the start.

Iceland

Thibang Phete played 91 minutes as Vestri secured a 3-1 win over Stjarnan in the Icelandic top division on Saturday.

The 31-year-old made his fifth appearance of the campaign, but only his second start so far.
