Money reports about Democratic Republic of Congo-based Riyaad Norodien have been slammed by a football agent acting on his behalf.
As reported in October, Norodien signed with Daring Club Motema Pembe in DRC, having parted ways with GladAfrica Championship side Cape Town Spurs in June.
Recent reports have suggested that the former Cape Town City and Orlando Pirates winger has not being paid by the club for three months and is said to be experiencing financial problems.
However, speaking to the Siya crew, the player's representative Kenneth Yamongbe confirmed that there has been a financial issue at the club, but rubbished the reports that Norodien has not been paid for three months, as well as allegations that he is the only player not getting a salary from the side.
"I have been seeing reports concerning Riyaad Norodieen not being paid and being the only player not being paid at his club. Daring Club Motema Pembe is a big club and a respected one in DRC and in Africa, and they are the 12-time league champions. I would like to vehemently refute and rubbish the claim that Norodieen is the only player not being paid at the club. This is a blatant lie and a clear campaign to tarnish the image of the club, my image and the one of my partner from B N International Sports Agency who made the deal," said Yamongbe.
"The club president is not around and he is in Belgium for now for personal matters and I have spoken to him already and he said that everything will be sorted as soon as he comes back from his trip. Cash flow problems have been everywhere and in any club but spreading lies and rumours is not acceptable. All the players are treated equally and whatever is said about Riyaad being the only player not being paid is township talk. What is worse is that the number of months that the player is alleged to have been not paid is just outrageous. The team's head coach himself who is from Belgium has reassured Norodien that everything will be cleared soon," concluded the representative.
