Blom came through the Chiefs development ranks before securing a sensational move to MLS Franchise St Louis City recently.
However, it almost wasn't to be, as the midfielder details how he was sold a dream by a con artist masquerading as a Kaizer Chiefs official.
The official promised Blom an opportunity with the Glamour Boys; but he disappeared into thin air, money in hand, on the day that he was supposed to make his way to the club. Were it not for his mother's insistence for him to do enquiries at Naturena.
"I think it was in September 2014. There was a guy back home who told me that he would put me in the team (Chiefs) and that I had had to meet him at Kaizer Chiefs' training facilities," he told the City Voice Podcast.
"When I got there, the guy wasn't there.
"Me and my mom had to pay him, and I think he ran (away) with the money. I called my mom and asked her, "What do I do now because I'm already here?"
"She told me to just go try and ask the coaches, just to see where I could end up.
"I went to the office and spoke to coach Conti [Khubeka], back then he was the Sporting Director for the development team. I spoke to him, and he told me that the trials were on 28 September.
"I came back and that is where it all started. I was the chosen one and coach 'Ryder' [Mofokeng] was the one who spotted me. Back home it is every young player's dream to play for Kaizer Chiefs. I was so happy, so excited and I couldn't believe it.
"When I got home, my mom couldn't believe it, she said 'I told you to go try' because when I got there, I wanted to go back home. It happened that they took me and that's where everything started," he continued.
