The Chilli Boys handed a recall to veteran midfielder Andile Jali, who was only a substitute in the Carling Knockout extra-time loss on the weekend, while Sergio Kammies, Craig Martin Sinoxolo Kwayiba were also back in the side.

Th visitors, meanwhile, welcomed Bafana Bafana duo Fawaaz Basadien and Jayden Adams back into the starting side as they both started on the bench in the cup action over the weekend.

Chippa's league form coming into the clash was better than their Western Cape counterparts, but the opening exchanges proved to be an evenly contested affair with chances at both ends.

However, the opening goal fell to the away side after 31 minutes as off-season acquisition Ashley Cupido opened his account for the club by firing past Chilli Boys goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.

The lead was doubled three minutes before the halftime break as Devin Titus raced clear on goal from Sanele Barns' pass before calmly slotting home his fourth league goal of the campaign.

Chippa coach Kwanele Kopo responded with a triple change at the start of the second period, as Aphelele Teto,  Malebogo Modise and Siphelo Baloni were introduced to help change the situation.

Despite the flurry of changes, the Chilli Boys were unable to find a way back into the contest in the remaining stages of the second half and were condemned to a second defeat of the league campaign.

On the other hand, Stellenbosch get their second win of the league season and leap up to third spot ahead of Saturday's meeting with Richards Bay in KwaZulu-Natal.
