Nedbank Cup Hero Could Move To TS Galaxy

Nedbank Cup Hero Could Move To TS Galaxy

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA - APRIL 18: Zakhele Lepasa of Orlando Pirates and Patrick Maswanganyi of Orlando Pirates during the Orlando Pirates training session and briefing.

A Soweto giant could be set to lose an attacking talent, with reports suggesting a move to a PSL club is on the horizon for the player who hasn't featured at all in this campaign.

Zakhele Lepasa, once a key figure for both club and country, appears to be heading for a reunion with a team where he had previously enjoyed cup glory.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, there are several teams interested in Lepasa but now insiders close to the club have indicated that TS Galaxy could be his destination for next season.

"It's hard to say if he is staying at the club next season and that's why there has been interest from different clubs and now it's believed that TS Galaxy could be his next destination. You know he has been there before and this could be an emotional return. But apparently they will be facing tough competition from other PSL clubs who are also believed to have shown interest in him," the insider told the Siya crew.

Meanwhile a second source further stated that Pirates are looking at releasing strikers to bring in new signings before they leave for pre-season in July.

"The thing is Lepasa may not be the only one leaving as the club is believed to be opening up space for new signings and Zakhele Lepasa and Boitumelo Radiopane could be some of the players leaving and Lepasa could be heading to TS Galaxy," the second source stated.

Despite playing many games last season and being part of Bafana Bafana, the 28-year-old is yet to play a match this season as he took time to recover from an injury.

In the 2018/19 season he was on loan at Galaxy where he helped them win the Nedbank Cup, when he scored the winner against Kaizer Chiefs.

Soccer Laduma contacted Galaxy and Pirates for comment but there was no response at the time of publishing this story.

This potential move represents a poignant full-circle moment for Lepasa, who could return to where he once enjoyed a great career highlight. For TS Galaxy, acquiring a striker with national team experience could significantly bolster their attacking options, while Pirates appear ready to refresh their forward line ahead of next season.

The coming weeks will likely bring clarity to Lepasa's future, with his potential departure marking the end of a frustrating chapter that saw him sidelined for an entire season. As Pirates prepare for what could be a substantial squad overhaul, this transfer saga might be just the first of several player movements at the Soweto giants this winter.
