Due to his limited game time at the Buccaneers, Marou has been expected to leave the club to revive his career elsewhere.

Recently, the player's agent Mike Makaab confirmed to the Siya crew that the striker was unlikely to be with the Soweto giants beyond the 2023/24 season.

The 23-year-old made only four appearances for Bucs in the recently completed season – two in the league and two other matches in the CAF Champions League – and was completely out of the picture throughout the campaign.

The forward has been with the club since January last year, having joined from Cameroonian club Coton Sport, and had been left with one year on his contract at the time of exiting Bucs.

"Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm the departure of striker Souaibou Marou. The Cameroonian, who joined us at the beginning of the season is free to join a club of his choice. We would like to wish Souiabou all the best in his future endeavours," Pirates confirmed on the club's official website.

The 28-year-old, who joined the Winelands outfit in 2022 from Baroka FC, will see his contract expire at the end of the month and a decision has been reached about not renewing it.

During his time with Stellies, the attacking midfielder amassed 63 appearances across all competitions, while he also played an important role in helping the club to win the Carling Knockout trophy and the team's qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup.
